REPORT OF AMAs’ 8TH FREE MEDICAL CAMP HELD ON 28TH JUNE 1996 AT RICH BAN, DISTRICT ABBOTTABAD, IN COLLABORATION WITH FURWA   

 

Abbottonians Medical Association ( AMA ) in collaboration with Frontier Urban & Rural Women Association (FURWA)  held its 8th  Free Medical Camp the Govt. Girls High School, Rich Ban, Dist. Abbottabad, on Friday the 28th  June 1996. It was a general camp and over 1500 patients were provided free consultation by specialist doctors and medicines worth over Rs. 50,000/- were given to the poor patients free of cost. The village Rich Ban was selected by an extensive survey carried out on Friday the 21st June 1996 by  team of AMA & FURWA, which comprised of Mrs. Riffat Akbar Swati, Executive Director FURWA, Dr. Noaman Siddiqui, Chief Organizer AMA & Mr. Syed Akbar Zulqurnain Class Representative AMA. FURWA is already working in this remote area in Health as well as in Education sector.

An advance team which comprised of six Medical Students of Ayub Medical College and two Health Technicians were sent at the Camp venue on 28 th morning at 5.00 am, which made all the necessary arrangements. Four rooms of the Govt. Girls High School were sub-divided into various specialties like Surgery, Medicine, Gynae., Eye, ENT, Paeds, Skin & Dentistry, where specialist doctors provided free consultation to the patients. There was a separate big room for Pharmacy, from where medicines were issued to the patients.
