REPORT OF AMA BLOOD CAMP ON 26TH APRIL 2002 AT
VILLAGE MIRPUR KHURD, ABBOTTABAD
Abbottonians Medical Association® organized a Blood Camp on Friday the 26th April 2002 at Village Mir Pur Khurd, Abbottabad. This was a unique Camp in AMA’s History as this was the first ever Blood Camp in a village. All the previous AMAs Blood Camps were held in Educational institutions or Departments. The Camp started at 3.30 pm and continued till 6.30 pm. 52 Blood bags were collected through this Camp, the detail of which is as under:

Motivational Banners, Posters regarding Blood donation were displayed at and around the venue of the Camp. Announcements were made on P.A System motivating people to donate their blood for Thalassaemic children. The motivation of the blood donors is worth praising in spite of the fact that the level of awareness in this regard is very low in the general population.
The organizer of this Blood Camp was Mr. Amjad Khan, who led by example by donation his own blood along with his wife who also donated her blood. The arrangements for this Camp were excellent. The male donors were bled in tents while female donors at Mr. Amjad’s residence. A total of seven females donated their blood. Refreshments were served at the end of the Camp. Chairman AMA®, along with DSP Cannt. Mr Mumtaz Zareen also visited the Camp. Representatives of the press were also present at this occasion.
Dr. Abdul Aziz Awan, Chairman AMA® & Dr. Noaman Siddiqui, Secretary General AMA® would like to thank Mr. Amjad Khan and his enthusiastic team for successfully organizing this Blood Camp. Our special thanks to all the Blood Donors for donating their precious blood to AMA® for the Thalassaemic patients. Certificates of Appreciation will be awarded to all the blood donors at a ceremony later. Donor’s Identity cards along with screening report will also be provided to all the Blood Donors.
