REPORT OF AMA’S BLOOD CAMP ON 15TH MAY 1996, AT ARMY BURN HALL COLLEGE FOR GIRLS, ABBOTTABAD

 A Blood Camp was organised by the Abbottonians Medical Association (AMA) at the Army Burn Hall School & College, Abbottabad on Wednesday the 15th May 1996.

The Principal, Army Burn Hall School & College Mr. Abdur Qadir Qureshi was very kind to make excellent arrangements at the college. Letters were issued to the parents of the students to get permission for blood donation from their daughters.

The Principal inaugurated the camp at 8.30 am in the Physic Lab. The Vice Principals and a few staff members were also present at the inauguration. A team of two doctors ( one male & a female) nine medical students ( Four males and five females ) along with one blood technician participated in the camp. Free Blood Grouping of the students of college section and Matric class was done along with some of the staff members. The result of the blood grouping is as under:-

 Five students, who had written permission from their parents donated their blood to AMA, voluntarily. The names of these courageous students are:-

 The students with the negative blood groups, willing to donate blood were registered for emergency blood donation. All the voluntary blood donors were issued AMA’s Blood Donors Membership Cards and their names were enrolled in AMA’s Blood Donors Directory. These students will be  issued “ Certificate of Appreciation ” later on. Haemoglobin levels of suspected anaemic students were also checked and such students were advised accordingly.

The aim of this Blood Camp was to create awareness amongst the young generation for voluntary blood donation. The blood which was collected at the camp will be given to the deserving Thalassaemic children, who need blood at a very regular interval. One such Thalassaemic patient, Master Sohail Khan s/o Mr. Parvez Khan also visited the camp. He had come for his 65 th blood transfusion.

 AMA is dedicated to provide blood to these Thalassaemic patients and appeal to the general public for blood donation specially to these deserving children.

The Chairman AMA , Dr. Abdul Aziz Awan on behalf of all the members of AMA, thank the Principal, Staff & Students of Army Burn Hall School & College for Girls for their full cooperation in making this Blood Camp a real success and hope that they will assist in the future endeavours of AMA as well.
